A Simple Dental Care Routine for Dogs and Cats
October 5, 2026Flea and tick routines depend on where you live, your pet’s health and lifestyle, and the product label. A single calendar schedule is not right for every pet. Regular checks and careful product use give you a practical place to start.
After outdoor time, check for ticks
CDC recommends checking pets daily for ticks and removing any you find. Look carefully around the ears, eyelids, collar, under the front legs, between the toes, between the back legs, and around the tail. Long or dark fur can make ticks harder to spot. If you find one attached, remove it promptly with a tick-removal tool or fine-tipped tweezers, following trusted veterinary or public-health instructions.
Keep the home routine manageable
- Wash pet bedding as needed and vacuum areas where your pet rests.
- After walks, check your pet and gear before settling indoors.
- If you see fleas or ongoing scratching, ask your veterinarian about an appropriate plan for both your pet and the home.
Use flea and tick products carefully
Ask your veterinarian which product and timing are appropriate. Match the product to the animal species, age, and weight listed on the label; never use a dog-labeled product on a cat. Follow the label exactly, keep treated pets separated when the label instructs, and watch for a reaction. If your pet seems unwell after a product, contact your veterinarian promptly.
Our flea and tick collection includes care items; check the product label and consult your veterinarian before using any parasite-control product.
